I’m not one of those health conscious women, so I do not frequent a gym; at last not in the last nine months.
I’m a hardworking professional, who only come fully awake after a nice cup of coffee; hot or cold, depends on the time of year.
I rarely have big breakfast; however, this has more to do with my eating habits than anything else. I do have lunch, each day, during my work week; it is one of my highlights.
It normally happens around 3 pm; couple hours after lunch and a few hours before dinner. While sitting at my desk, starting a new or completing an old assignment, the first hunger pang hit.
Depending on the occurrence of the day, at first I don’t realize the sufficient.
As I continue to type; write; answer the phone; finish up or start a meeting, the pang become stronger and then I realize “I need a snack”.
Now, health conscious employees may reach for an apple or banana; if you’re a really dedicated individual, a bag of carrots; celery.
I believe, the rest of the working population would gets up from our desk, walk down the hall to the vending machine.
Most of us would be in the mood for a snack; something sweet: a Snicker bar or Almond Joy.
Some pastries: a cheese Danish; Oreo cookies or maybe some carbs: potato chips; pop-corn, ok, even one of those granola bar, better yet, nuts and raisins trail mix - Mmmmmm
Our bodies are in need of one of these wonderful treats that will carry us for the last couple of hour before we can leave and get some dinner.
We’re excited; thinking of the taste of that first chocolate Oreo; opening up the cookie to get to the cream inside.
It makes us happy; give us the energy; lift our spirits to continue to do the same work, at the same place, during the same hours for as many YEARS!
You walk to the vending machine and… IT IS EMPTY.
It has been determined that all the snacks are unhealthy and no more sweets for you; a healthy alternative will be decided.
