Strange Realization

I've met and spoken to a lot of great people who I believe shared my ideals for a better world because just like me they've done wonderful charity work both national and international but now I notice in regards to gun regulations and 2nd Amendments that our views are so different.  I can't understand how people can help others but can't understand the need to implement laws that can save lives.  I don't get it.
